George Ormsby

George Albert Ormsby was an Anglican bishop at the end of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century.[1]

Born in Dublin in September 1843,[2] the son of the Rt Hon Henry Ormsby, Chancery Judge of the High Court of Justice in Ireland, and educated at Trinity College, Dublin, he was ordained in 1866.[3] His first post was a curacy in Eglingham after which he held incumbencies[4] in Jarrow,[5] Rainton[6] and Walworth.[7] He was the second Bishop of Belize[8] from 1893[9] to 1907. He returned to England and ended his career as Archdeacon of Lindisfarne. A Sub-Prelate of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, he died on 14 February 1924.[10]
